Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 onions, chopped into big bite size pieces
  • 3/4 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground jeera
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon saunf
  • Salt to taste
  • Water for mixing the batter

How to make Baked Onion Pakoda

  • In a bowl add all the ingredients except onions and water. Roughly stir to combine well
  • Add onions and mix around with a spoon
  • Slowly add water starting with a tablespoon at a time. Unlike the regular batter, you are looking for it to be thick enough to coat the onions. Relatively dry
  • On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, place 1 tablespoon of this mixture about 1-inch apart
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 200 C for about 30 minutes or till the pakoras turn a golden brown color. Serve hot with tamarind chutney or ketchup
