Baked Samosa Recipe

Ever thought of samosas as a healthy snack? Sounds odd, but it is tastily true. Stuffed with paneer & potatoes, these crusty baked samosas are loaded with calcium, carotene and protein, while still maintaining its familiar, delicious flavours. So they are perfect for the next time you want to prepare a guilt-free snack for your friends and family.

Ingredients

    • 1 cup whole wheat flour
    • 2 tablespoons Saffola oil
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon carom seeds
    • Water as required

     

    For the Stuffing

     

    • 1 teaspoon Saffola oil
    • 1 teaspoon ginger, chopped
    • 1 cup split Bengal gram
    • 1 cup boiled potatoes
    • 1/4 cup paneer
    • 1 cup spinach, chopped
    • 3 tablespoons coriander, chopped
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 1 teaspoon dry mango powder 
    • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
    • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
    • Salt to taste

How to make Baked Samosa

    • In a mixing bowl, add the flour, oil, salt, carom seeds, water and knead into a dough.
    • Rest the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
    • Next, prepare the stuffing. Heat some Saffola oil in a pan.
    • Add the ingredients for the stuffing, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Set aside.
    • Roll the rested dough into discs, where each disc is cut at the center to make two halves.
    • Apply water on the edges, and shape each half into cones.
    • Fill it with the stuffing mixture and seal it.
    • Brush the samosas with oil, and bake in a pre heated oven at 200 degrees for about 20 mins.
    • Serve hot with the chutney of your choice.
