Beetroot And Raw Banana Chop Recipe

This is a typical Bengali starter made with a combination of beetroot and raw banana. Popularly known as Bengali chops, they are very famous and are sold as Kolkata street food with various accompaniments. The roasted peanuts combined in the mixture gives a crunchy element to the crispy patties.

    • 1 large beetroot, boiled, grated
    • 1 raw banana, boiled, grated
    • 1packet Saffola Peppy Tomato Oats
    • 2 tablespoon peanuts, roasted
    • 1 inch ginger, grated
    • 2 green chili, finely chopped
    • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon roasted coriander powder
    • 1 teaspoon roasted fennel, crushed
    • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
    • 3 tablespoons corn flour
    • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
    • salt to taste
    • Saffola oil for cooking

How to make Beetroot And Raw Banana Chop

    • Boil the beetroot and the raw banana in a pressure cooker for 3 whistles till it is well done. Let it rest till the pressure from the cooker come out naturally.
    • Once the vegetables are cooled, grate it using a grater and keep it aside.
    • Heat oil in a pan, add ginger, green chili, and the spice powders. Add the grated vegetable, roasted peanuts and oats into the masala, and sauté till it combines well.
    • Cool the mixture for some time, and divide them into small balls and shape them flat.
    • Coat it with cornflour mixed with water and roll it in the breadcrumbs for an even coating. Pan fry them in a pan on both the sides and serve.
    • Serve it as a teatime snack, along with Dhania Chutney and a cup of Adrak chai.
