Bread Upma Recipe

A great way to reuse leftover bread is to make Bread Upma. Toss the Bread Upma along with Masala Oats and serve it for breakfast or a tea time snack.

Ingredients

    • 6 multigrain bread slices
    • 40 gms Saffola classic masala oats
    • 2 tablespoons Saffola oil
    • A large pinch of hing
    • 1 teaspoon jeera
    • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds                                                     
    • 2 medium onion, chopped
    • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • salt to taste
    • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
    • 2 teaspoons lime juice
    • 4 green chillies, chopped
    • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped

How to make Bread Upma

    • Break the bread into small pieces
    • Heat the oil in a non-stick kadai, add hing, jeera and mustard seeds. When the jeera change colour and the mustard seeds begin to splutter, add the onion and sauté for a few minutes till translucent
    • Add the turmeric powder, salt and bread pieces, oats and mix well. Add the chilli powder and toss to mix. Sprinkle some water over the mixture and cook for two minutes
    • Add the lime juice, green chillies and chopped fresh coriander. Toss well to mix and serve hot
