Matar Paneer Recipe

This Matar Paneer recipe is a wholesome North Indian dish that is made from fresh paneer and green peas. It is simmered along with Saffola Oats and tomatoes to make the gravy light and healthy. Serve this delicious recipe along with hot Phulkaas for a light weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

    • 250 grams paneer
    • 200 grams fresh peas, tender
    • 1 tablespoon oil
    • 2 onions
    • 1” piece ginger
    • 4 cloves garlic
    • 100ml tomato puree {store bought}
    • 1 teaspoon whole jeera
    • 1/4 teaspoon haldi
    • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
    • 2 teaspoon dhania powder
    • salt to taste
    • 1 packet Saffola Masala Oats
    • water as required to make gravy
    • 2 tablespoon fresh coriander, finely chopped, for garnish
    • lime juice if desired

How to make Matar Paneer

    • Grind the onions, ginger and garlic to a paste
    • Heat oil. Add jeera, when it splutters, add the ground onion ginger garlic paste. Sauté until light brown and fragrant
    • Add the dry spices and sauté briefly, and then add the peas
    • Stir fry for 2 minutes until brightly colored {if peas are hard, microwave for 2 minutes before using}
    • Add the tomato puree and simmer until the sides leave oil
    • Now add the oats and fry for 1 minute. Add about 1/2 cup water and stir continuously until it begins to form thick gravy 
    • Stir in the paneer and cook on simmer, covered, for 5 minutes
    • Add more water as required. Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander. Add a dash of lime juice. Serve hot
