Oat Chilli Poppers Recipe

Delightful little poppers that hit the right spot for a quick snack. That they are not deep fried and healthy too is definitely an added bonus.

Ingredients

    • 10-12 whole red and green chilies
    • 1 packet Saffola Masala Oats Chinese
    • 1/2 cup grated paneer
    • 1/4 cup cheddar
    • 1/4 cup fresh coriander
    • 1 lime juice 
    • 1 packet Saffola Masala Oats Chinese
    • 1-2 tablespoon oil

How to make Oat Chilli Poppers

    • Wash, pat dry and cut off the tops of the chillies, cutting them into 1” bite sized pieces. Clean out the insides gently to create a hollow to fill
    • Cook the Saffola Masala Oats in 130ml of water until soft but not runny. Leave to stand
    • In a large bowl, mix in the paneer, cheddar, fresh coriander, lime juice and cooked warm oats to make a filling. Taste and adjust seasoning
    • Fill the cavities in the chillies with the stuffing
    • Place the oats from the second packet onto a plate
    • Dip the open filled ends of each chili first into the cornflour, then into the oats, repeating for both sides, and for all bites
    • Heat a heavy nonstick pan and smear with 1 tsp oil. Lay the chili poppers cut side down and roast for 5 minutes covered on simmer until golden brown
    • Flip over and cook uncovered for a further 5 minutes until golden brown, using a few drops of oil as required
    • Serve immediately with a sweet chilli garlic dip
