  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • An inch piece of ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Saffola Oil
  • 2 sprigs of spring onion for garnishing
  • Salt to taste

For the Sweet and Spicy Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Schezwan sauce or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • Salt to taste

How to make Schezwan Chilli Sweet Potato

  • To begin making the Schezwan Chili Sweet Potato recipe, we will first bake the potatoes in the oven
  • Peel and cut the potatoes into wedges, sprinkle some salt and smear a teaspoon of oil. Spread the wedges on a greased baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven (180 C) until browned and crisp. Once baked, remove from the oven
  • While the potatoes are baking in the oven, we will make the sweet and spicy sauce. In a saucepan, add the oat powder and the sauces with 1 cup of water. Cook the oats along with the sauces until it thickens. Once the sauce thickens adjust the spices to suit your taste. Keep the sauce aside
  • Heat oil in a wok, add sesame seeds, ginger, green chilies and garlic
  • Sauté for a few seconds and add the roasted potatoes, the prepared sweet and spicy sauce and sauté for 2 minutes on high flame, taking care not to mash the potatoes. Once the potatoes are coated well with the sauce, turn off the heat
  • Check the salt and spice levels and adjust to suit your taste
  • Transfer the Schezwan Chili Sweet Potatoes to a serving platter, garnish with spring onions and serve as an appetizer for parties
